I started the walk from the Arche Noah hostel, not far from the main walkway with the canal. It leads directly to the steps up the mountain. You can see the cathedral from all over town and here you may be able to just make out the cables for the cable car. |

There is always business on these days and here a native lady is selling something that I have no idea what it is. |

And so it begins. 2300 meters (up) to go. It's humid and hot. |

You can see toward the entrance down below, left. And as you ascend higher and higher, you become more enlightened, and the question stands out crystal clear in your mind: What the hell have I done? But now you are committed and won't be distracted by those who are turning around, fainting, barfing, or calling it a day. They are legion. |

At every turn of the steep path, someone is trying to sell you something. Many succumb to temptation. |
